Decorations for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time of giving and sharing, it one of my favorite holidays, I love to decorate and to prepare all those wonderful recipes that fill my house with delightful scents.

If you are lucky to live near nature, use leaves, pine cones, fruits, vegetables or flowers to decorate. Ask the kids to help, it will occupy them and will teach them about what the beautiful mother nature gave us. There are so many beautiful things you can do with fruit, leaves, vegetables or flowers just look around you and use whatever you have available in your home. I like to decorate my thanksgiving table with pine cones as napkin holders (just tie the pine cone with raffia (available in any craft store) and tie around a napkin, you can add little flowers (I use lavender) or leaves. If you like a rustic look for your table or home add wicker baskets filled with little gourds, pumpkins, dry flowers, fresh fruits or vegetables.

As a beautiful table centerpiece buy an interesting looking gourd (they come in many different shapes) from the market cut the stem off (try to scoop as much of the meat as possible) use it as a vase . For a beautiful bouquet try autumn colored flowers mix with lavender which will be as decorative as scented. If you have a hanging chandelier above your table decorate it with a garland of flowers, leaves or fruit (such as grapes). Enjoy the beautiful colors of the season harvest. Involve the kids in many decorating project so they'll enjoy and you'll have some help (kids imagination is the best they will give you great ideas). Candles too are great for decorating (you can choose scented one but be careful, some people get headaches from the scent so don't use too many of them). Use citrus fruit and leaves for decorating and scenting smell. It doesn't take a lot to make a home inviting and homey, don't leave cleaning, cooking and decorating for the last minute. You will be tired and not be able to enjoy your guests. So if you plan ahead, you'll definitely enjoy your holidays and your guests.
