History of Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo (which means "the Fifth of May" in Spanish) commemorates the defeat of the French army by the Mexicans at the Battle Of Puebla (Mexico) in 1862. This holiday is celebrated in Mexico but also in the United States by its large Mexicans populations.

Cinco De Mayo is celebrated every year on the Fifth of May with Mexican food, drinks and a lot of cultural activities such as music and dances. For Cinco de Mayo, many people like to invite guests into their homes for a big celebration of traditional Mexican food and entertainment. Mexican food is delicious and can be easily prepared by anyone. You don't have to be Mexican to be able to enjoy this wonderful holiday and its customs

This menu below can be served "buffet style". To complete this delightful meal add the real Mexican beer "Corona") which is served with a slice of lime and some salt. Mexican food has been influenced by the Indians, Spaniards and French. And even though the food can be made very spicy you can adjust the spices to your own taste.

The most traditional Mexican dessert is the flan (baked egg custard) that can be flavored according to your tast, such as: coffee, cinnamon or orange. To appease the heat of the spiciness of chiles (Hot peppers), always eat some dairy product such as: sour cream or yogurt. Do not drink cold water it will make it worst.
