Information about Greek Aperitif (Mezedakia)
Greek mezedakia is a variety of little dishes. They can be cold or hot depending your choice but all of them are really delicious. I would suggest that you prepare 3 or 4 cold and 3 or 4 hot. This version can be easily prepare and do not require lengthy preparations.
To have a real "Greek Mezedakia" party you should try the famous "Retsina" wine, which is a white or rose wine that is flavored with pine resin. Retsina is not for everybody so always have different wines on the table. But I would definitely suggest you to try it. Popular Retsina wine are made by Kourtaris or Boutari. If you do not like the resin flavor you can try a white Koutakis Apelia wine or a red Boutary Cava Boutary.
To end this wonderful event serve a "Greek coffee" which is brewed in a cylindrical pot called a "briki" (if you do not have one you can "cook" the coffee in a small pot). Greek coffee is serve plain, medium sweet or sweet depending of people's request.
